Pluto Retrograde Calendar

How often does Pluto turn retrograde? Every year, without exception, and its backward phase lasts about 163 days. That is the longest stretch on this calendar. Pluto stations in early May and keeps sliding back until mid October, so almost half of any given year sits inside the window. Consecutive starts fall about 367 days apart, which pushes the date some two days later each time: 4 May 2025, 6 May 2026, 8 May 2027.

Nothing out there truly turns around. Pluto lies so distant that it barely shifts against the background stars, while our own world finishes a full lap in twelve months. Each year we catch up and overtake Pluto on the inside of the track, and during that pass the far body appears to reverse. Its sheer slowness is why the phase drags on such a long time. Both turning points sit in the table further down: the moment retrograde motion sets in, and the moment ordinary movement returns.

Classical astrology never knew Pluto. The modern reading gave it deep change, endings, and slow rebuilding. It is an outer planet moving at generational speed, more than ten years in a single sign, so it is treated as a background tone rather than a personal factor. Of the retrograde phase, the tradition says the same work carries on underneath the surface instead of showing on it.
