Venus Star Point calculator

Your Venus Star Point is the place where Venus last met the Sun before you were born. All it needs is your birth date.

Your birth date

Only the date is needed. The calculation runs in your browser and nothing is sent.

Venus meets the Sun about every nine and a half months, passing in turn between the Earth and the Sun (an inferior conjunction) and behind the Sun (a superior conjunction). The degree of the last meeting before a birth is that person's Venus Star Point.

Over eight years Venus meets the Sun five times in the same way, each meeting about 144 degrees on from the last, and then returns to within a few degrees of where the cycle began. The calculator lists the five meetings of the cycle your birth belongs to.

The Venus Star Point is a modern technique, developed by Arielle Guttman in the late twentieth century; classical astrology has no doctrine for it, and we label it that way. The geometry under it is plain astronomy, and the conjunction is calculated here to the arcminute.

The calculation runs in your browser: your birth date is not sent anywhere.

The Venus Star Point in each sign

Aries

A bold sign. People whose meeting falls here usually love openly and quickly. They say what they want and are happy to make the first move.

Taurus

A calm sign. People whose meeting falls here usually love slowly, but for a long time. They show it with comfort, good food and being there, day after day.

Gemini

A curious sign. People whose meeting falls here usually fall for a good conversation first. Laughing together and sharing ideas is how they get close.

Cancer

A caring sign. People whose meeting falls here usually love by looking after others. They show their love more than they say it, and they forget nothing.

Leo

A warm sign. People whose meeting falls here usually love generously and with their whole heart. They like to give, to play, and to be seen too.

Virgo

A careful sign. People whose meeting falls here usually show love through small, useful things: they help, they fix, they notice what the other person needs.

Libra

A fair sign. People whose meeting falls here usually love as partners. Beauty and kindness matter to them, and they want things to be even between two people.

Scorpio

A deep sign. People whose meeting falls here usually don't love on the surface. Their trust is won slowly, but once won it rarely goes away.

Sagittarius

A free sign. People whose meeting falls here usually love with honesty and a sense of adventure. They need room to breathe and someone to explore the world with.

Capricorn

A patient sign. People whose meeting falls here usually love by building something that lasts. They prove their love over time, with effort and by keeping their word.

Aquarius

A free-thinking sign. People whose meeting falls here usually love as friends first. They need their own space and are drawn to what is a little unusual.

Pisces

A dreamy sign. People whose meeting falls here usually love with a soft, big heart. They forgive easily and often feel what others feel without a word.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is my Venus Star Point?

The zodiac degree where Venus and the Sun were last conjunct before your birth. Enter your birth date above and the calculator finds that conjunction, its sign and degree, and whether it was inferior or superior.

Do I need my birth time?

No. Conjunctions are months apart, so the date decides it. Only a birth within a day of a conjunction can depend on the hour, and the calculator says so when that happens.

What is the difference between a morning star and an evening star Venus?

After an inferior conjunction Venus rises before the Sun and is seen at dawn: a morning star. After a superior conjunction it sets after the Sun and is seen at dusk: an evening star. Modern practice reads the morning star as the outgoing Venus and the evening star as the reflective one.

Is the Venus Star Point traditional astrology?

The cycle is ancient: Babylonian tablets already record Venus's eight-year rhythm. The Venus Star Point as a personal chart point is modern, from Arielle Guttman's work, and this page labels it that way.
