Hermetic lot
A hermetic lot is a calculated point derived by measuring the arc between two planets and projecting it from the Ascendant, the best known being the Lot of Fortune.
The seven hermetic lots each belong to a planet: Fortune to the Moon, Spirit to the Sun, Eros to Venus, Necessity to Mercury, Courage to Mars, Victory to Jupiter and Nemesis to Saturn. Later Arabic authors multiplied them into hundreds, which is where the looser name Arabic parts comes from.
Most of them reverse by sect, so a day chart and a night chart with identical planets have different lots. Getting the sect wrong inverts the point rather than nudging it, which is why our reports state which is used.
