Cazimi
Cazimi is a planet within about seventeen minutes of arc of the Sun's exact degree, which classical astrology reads as the strongest place a planet can be.
The word comes from the Arabic for in the heart. Where combustion burns a planet, the heart of the Sun protects it: the tradition describes a planet cazimi as a counsellor seated beside the king rather than a subject lost in his glare.
It is rare, and it is exact: a degree either way turns the same planet from cazimi to combust.
Frequently asked
How rare is cazimi?
Very. The window is about a third of a degree wide, so the Sun and the planet must be within minutes of the same degree.
Does cazimi cancel combustion?
In the traditional reading it replaces it: the same closeness that burns at eight degrees protects at seventeen minutes.
