A Life Path number is the core figure in numerology, found by reducing your full birth date to a single digit. You add together the day, month and year, then keep summing the result until one digit remains: for a date like 14 March 1990 you reduce to 1 plus 4 plus 3 plus 1 plus 9 plus 9 plus 0, which gives 27, then 2 plus 7 gives 9, so the Life Path number is 9.
There is one exception to that final reduction. When the running total lands on 11, 22 or 33, numerology stops and keeps the doubled figure intact. These are the master numbers, and they are read as numbers in their own right rather than being collapsed to 2, 4 or 6.
